About UVUNTU · Care at home in Zimbabwe

Care for your family in Zimbabwe — and know it happened.

This page explains who we are and how UVUNTU operates: how bookings work, how your money moves, and the checks every clinic clears before it can appear on the platform. When you're ready, booking happens on the main page.

Free to join. You only ever pay when you book.

Run a clinic or practice? See how UVUNTU works for providers

Registered providers only

Every clinic is licence-checked with Zimbabwe's health professions authorities before it can take a single booking — and re-checked every year.

Proof the visit happened

Each booking comes with a one-time visit code. It's redeemed at the clinic when your family member is seen — and you're told the moment it is.

Honest, flat pricing

One flat service fee per booking — no percentages, no mark-up on the care itself, nothing hidden. The full amount is itemised before you pay.

How it works

Four steps, from your phone to their appointment

Sending money home for a doctor's visit usually means transferring cash and hoping. UVUNTU replaces the hoping.

  1. Choose the kind of care

General consultations, dental, maternal health, physiotherapy, diagnostics and more. Create a free account to see registered clinics near your family, with real availability and clear prices.

  2. Book and pay from wherever you are

Pick an actual appointment slot and pay in US dollars by card. You pay per booking — UVUNTU never holds a balance or wallet for you.

  3. Your family member gets a visit code

We send the appointment details and a one-time code by SMS. Nothing for them to download, no account for them to manage — they simply bring the code.

  4. They're seen — and you'll know

The clinic redeems the code at the visit. Once the visit is confirmed, you're notified and the clinic is paid. If the visit doesn't happen, the clinic isn't paid and you're refunded under our cancellation policy.

Your money

How the money moves

In a world of stories about money sent home and lost along the way, we keep this part boring, visible, and strict.

  • Pay per booking. There are no wallets, balances or top-ups. Money moves only when you book something specific.
  • Released after care. A clinic is paid only after it confirms the visit and the visit code has been redeemed.
  • Verified accounts only. Payouts go solely to the bank or mobile-money account each clinic registered with us and we verified before they went live.
  • Plain pricing. You pay the clinic's price plus one flat service fee — every cost, including card processing, itemised at checkout before you pay.
  • If something goes wrong. Bookings that aren't confirmed aren't paid out. Unresolved bookings are reviewed by our team, and refunds follow our cancellation policy.

What we are — and what we're not

A technology platform. Not a clinic.

UVUNTU does

Arrange and confirm appointments. Verify who is on the platform. Move payments safely, and prove to you that the visit took place. That's our whole job, done properly.

UVUNTU doesn't

Provide medical advice, influence treatment, or hold your family member's medical records. Care stays where it belongs — between the patient and their registered practitioner.

We're building more than a booking tool. At its heart, UVUNTU gives the diaspora visibility and control over how their remittances work: instead of sending cash and hoping, you decide exactly what your money buys, see where it goes, and get proof it arrived as care. Every booking turns that money into formal, verifiable spending inside Zimbabwe's registered health sector — our part in a bigger national story of strengthening Zimbabwe's health economy and growing its standing as a destination for quality care.

UVUNTU Health is operated by an Australian-registered company — ABN 54 667 861 252 — serving patients and providers in Zimbabwe.

Our checks

Before a clinic goes live

Trust isn't a slogan; it's a checklist we actually run. Every clinic clears all of these before it can appear on UVUNTU.

  • Practising certificates

Current registration for every practitioner with the relevant Zimbabwean health professions council — medical and dental, allied health, nursing, laboratory sciences.

  • Health facility registration

The clinic's registration to operate as a health facility, matched to the services it offers on the platform.

  • Tax clearance

A current ZIMRA tax clearance certificate, verified at onboarding.

  • Verified payout account

The clinic's bank or mobile-money account, confirmed before a single payout can ever be made.

Registrations are re-verified annually. If a registration lapses, the clinic comes off the platform until it's current again.

For clinics & practices

Run a clinic or practice in Zimbabwe?

Fill open slots in the diary you already keep. Relatives abroad book and pay upfront; you see the patient and redeem their code; the payout lands in your registered account after the visit is confirmed.

No subscription. No percentage of your consultation fee. You set your own prices, and payment for confirmed visits lands in your verified account.

Questions people actually ask

Fair questions, straight answers

Is this Ubuntu Health Zimbabwe? Why the V?

If you were looking for the platform that lets you book and pay for appointments at verified Zimbabwean clinics from abroad, then yes — that is us. It is spelled UVUNTU Health, with a V, at uvuntu.com. The name comes from ubuntu (unhu or hunhu in Shona): a person is a person through other people. We changed the letter because ubuntu belongs to everyone who speaks these languages, and because the word is already carried by a well-known operating system and by unrelated organisations. UVUNTU Health is not affiliated with any of them.

Is this safe? How do I know it isn't a scam?

A fair question — plenty of people have been burned sending money home. So don't take our word for it; look at how it's built. Clinics are licence-verified before they can be listed. Your money is tied to one specific booking — we hold no wallets or balances. You receive confirmation when the visit code is redeemed at the clinic. And if the visit doesn't happen, the clinic isn't paid and you're refunded under our cancellation policy. UVUNTU is operated by an Australian-registered company (ABN 54 667 861 252), and you can contact a real team behind it.

Who actually provides the care?

Registered Zimbabwean practitioners and clinics — the same professionals your family would see anyway, verified with their professional councils. UVUNTU is a technology platform, not a healthcare provider. We never give medical advice and never make clinical decisions.

What does it cost?

The clinic's own consultation price, shown to you clearly before you pay, plus one flat service fee per booking. Every cost — including card processing — is itemised at checkout before you confirm. No percentages of the care price, no subscriptions, no charges to your family member.

What if my family member can't attend?

Appointments can be rescheduled or cancelled under our cancellation policy. If a visit never takes place, the visit code is never redeemed, the booking isn't confirmed, and the clinic isn't paid — the refund process follows from there. Bookings that stay unresolved are reviewed by our team.

Why can't I see clinic names and prices before I sign up?

Public pages describe the kinds of care available; named clinics, real availability and prices are shown inside your free account, when you ask to see them. Keeping clinic details inside the platform keeps the experience about care, not advertising — you compare options on your terms, and nothing is pushed at you.

Do you hold my money in a wallet or balance?

No — deliberately. There is no wallet, no stored value, no top-ups. You pay for one specific booking at a time, and that payment is either confirmed as a completed visit and paid to the clinic, or handled under the cancellation policy. Simpler for you, and far less that can go wrong.

The cancellation and refund process is set out in full in our refund policy. More on the name — and what we're not affiliated with — on Ubuntu or Uvuntu?
